You're in a hurry, it’s crunch time, or you have incomplete documents, or any other excuse to not make a mistake. How do you not miss that critical item, or plug that updated cost of material or labor? The last thing you need is to get the project and have too much money left on the table.
Mistakes can be costly. Rarely are they beneficial to you and if they are, it could mean the opposite for someone else you may be working with. Even the best estimators make mistakes. And yes, there are many reasons why.
Use the tools you have at your disposal. Starting with your takeoff. Maybe refine your spreadsheet or estimating program or processes starting with the last mistake you made. Or from common mistakes you have found in relevant article that others learned from. Use the tools you have at your disposal to create checklists or templates.
