ConstructConnect Helps Bring Evicted Exhibit to Birmingham

Community Outreach

ConstructConnect helped bring the traveling Evicted exhibit to Birmingham, Alabama, in partnership with a group led by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Birmingham Chapter.

The exhibit draws visitors into the world of renter eviction. Inspired by the book Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond, visitors come face-to-face with one of 21st-century America’s most troubling problems.

Eviction impacts all aspects of family life—from health and jobs to school and personal relationships. Evicted the exhibit began in 2018 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The 10-city traveling display included updated data and one-of-a-kind visuals.

“We are so excited to have played a part in bringing this wonderful exhibit to Alabama. This exhibit sheds light on the affordable housing problem around the country, even more so in Alabama. At ConstructConnect, we want to help provide avenues for dialog around issues impacted by the built environment. The more awareness that exists, the more action that can occur,” said Derek Guffey, Vice President of Product Marketing at ConstructConnect.

Evicted will be on display at the Birmingham Public Library’s Central location through December 30, 2021. For more information on the exhibit, click here.

Time, talent, and treasure are the core tenets of ConstructConnect’s community outreachefforts. We believe that each person is suited differently to give differently. That’s why we recognize a variety of options, empowering the organization, both on a corporate level and as individual team members, to give “the three” away.
