Construction is officially underway on Boca Paddle by CityPickle, a $20 million indoor pickleball and padel complex in Boca Raton, WPBF reported.
Local leaders and developers broke ground Tuesday at the Jeffrey St & NW 2nd Ave site. The 100,000-square-foot facility is designed to serve as a sports destination and a vibrant community hub.
The commercial construction project, a public-private partnership, will feature 25 courts. Six courts will be dedicated to padel play, and 14 will be for indoor pickleball.
Pickleball courts are constructed to measure 44 by 20 feet, whereas padel is played on wall-enclosed courts that are 66 feet long and 33 feet wide.
Additional areas planned for construction include wellness spaces, coworking areas, cold plunges, saunas, and a restaurant.

Pickleball has grown rapidly, with nearly 11,000 locations listed online by USA Pickleball, one of its governing associations.
The association writes that the game’s popularity is fueled by its adoption in community centers, PE classes, and local communities, making the sport accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Boca Raton is one of the nation’s most active pickleball regions. Developers said seven of the top 10 ranked professional pickleball players reside within 10 miles of the new site.
According to USA Pickleball, the sport originated in 1965, and the “first permanent pickleball court” was completed in 1967.
