ConstructConnect Announces AEC Cares Service Project Benefitting Sasha Bruce Youthwork

Volunteers will renovate home for boys in Washington, D.C., during one-day “building blitz”

March 20, 2024 (Washington, D.C.) – ConstructConnect, a leading provider of software solutions for the preconstruction industry and a founding partner of the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization AEC Cares, announced that this year’s AEC Cares project will benefit Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) in Washington, D.C. On Wednesday, June 5, nearly 100 volunteers will gather to renovate SBY’s Residential Empowerment Adolescent Community Home (REACH) in Capitol Hill’s historic Barracks Row.

Each year, AEC Cares engages the architecture, engineering, and construction community in a volunteer event coinciding with the annual AIA Conference on Architecture & Design. The site of this year’s project, REACH, is a community-based home for youth ages 12 to 17 awaiting trial and who would benefit from additional community and social support.

“The ConstructConnect team and AEC Cares Board are thrilled to support Sasha Bruce Youthwork’s longstanding history of service to the youth and families of Washington, D.C.,” said Jennifer Johnson, ConstructConnect Chief Product Officer and AEC Cares Board President. “Through generous donations from our partner organizations and volunteers, we hope to make meaningful contributions to the wellbeing of young residents at the organization’s REACH facility.”

Renovation efforts will focus on enhancing a homelike environment for the young residents of REACH while also creating spaces to support the home’s mission to provide individual, group, and family counseling, educational remediation, life skills coaching, and self-esteem building.

"Sasha Bruce Youthwork has a 50-year legacy of helping young people in Washington, D.C., reach their full potential. We know that youth can overcome challenges and build brighter futures when they have the support they need,” said Deborah Shore, Founder and Executive Director of Sasha Bruce Youthwork. “We are incredibly grateful to AEC Cares and ConstructConnect for their commitment to creating a more positive environment for the residents at REACH. This project will enhance the physical space and contribute to the well-being of the young people we serve."
