The Biggest Sporting Venues Taking Shape
The FIFA World Cup has put several large venues across the country on display. If stadiums and arenas are in your market, this is a good time to be paying attention to what's in the pipeline.
As of July 2026, several major projects are planned or in progress. NFL domes, NBA arenas, MLS facilities. The work is spread across the country, and ConstructConnect® News has been tracking the biggest ones. Here's where things stand.
Note: Project plans and details can change throughout the preconstruction and construction process. For the most current updates on the projects below and more, access full details through ConstructConnect Project Intelligence.
$2.4 billion | Brook Park, OH | Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are moving 20 minutes inland from their current Lake Erie facility into a fully domed, 67,500-seat venue engineered to host events their current stadium simply can't, including Super Bowl eligibility. The new facility will feature the largest concourse in the NFL and the shortest average distance from seats to field.

$1.5 billion | South Philadelphia, PA | Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers
The Flyers and 76ers are leaving their separate arrangements and sharing a new $1.5 billion arena in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, steps from Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field. A future WNBA franchise is also slated to call it home. Eventually, this new arena is planned to replace the Xfinity Mobile Arena. The arena proposal was approved in late 2024 and opening is planned for 2030.
$1.4 billion | Jacksonville, FL | Jacksonville Jaguars
The EverBank Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is undergoing a large-scale transformation. Plans include expanding capacity from 63,000 to 70,000, quadrupling concourse width, and enclosing the entire structure in a translucent ViewScape canopy, engineered to cut heat by 70%. The team will continue playing home games throughout 2026 while exterior construction takes shape and make a temporary move during 2027 as interior work picks up. Completion is targeted for 2028.

$900 million | Oklahoma City, OK | Oklahoma City Thunder
Progress is already underway for the new home of the Oklahoma City Thunder in downtown Oklahoma City. Voters approved a one-cent sales tax by a 71% margin to finance this publicly owned and funded project. The 750,000-square-foot arena is designed for optimized sightlines, intimate seating, a 360-degree glass curtain wall, and a street-level fan activation zone called Thunder Alley. The Thunder have committed to remaining in Oklahoma City through 2053. Estimated completion for the arena is slated for late summer 2028.

$650 million | Chicago, IL | Chicago Fire FC
Chicago's first soccer-specific stadium in 30 years got City Council approval in the fall of 2025 and is targeting a construction start ahead of the 2028 MLS season. The 22,000-seat venue anchors a 62-acre mixed-use development in the South Loop, including a 1,400-foot public riverwalk, residential communities, retail, and a water taxi stop. With this being the first large-scale stadium project in the city in 30 years, it's estimated to bring in about 12,000 construction jobs.

Cost TBD | Hammond, IN | Chicago Bears
One of the most-watched stadium decisions in years landed on June 5, 2026: the Bears are leaving Illinois for Hammond, Indiana, backed by a newly created Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority. The team will keep the "Chicago Bears" name. Construction costs haven't been announced, but given the trajectory of recent NFL projects, a multi-billion-dollar number is the baseline expectation. Design and siting details are still being finalized.
